Psalm 34:2
My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
Yesterday our pastor challenged the congregation to remember good things the Lord has done for us rather than whining and complaining about our current situations. He challenged us to do the following EACH AND EVERY DAY all the way until New Year's Day:
1. Think on at least one thing the Lord has done for you in the past.
2. Write it down.
3. Speak it.
4. Share it outside of the "holy huddle", aka church.
He said we would see great changes in our relationships, health, and overall well being if we will do these things. I have decided to take him up on that challenge. I have noticed myself complaining more and more lately due to the disdain I have for my current job. I don't like what I have become, so I am choosing right here and now to make a change. Yes, I will still hope and pray for a change in my job/career, but I want to do that without the whining and complaining. Focusing on good things the Lord has done will help me with that. Therefore, I have decided to start this boasting blog. I will boast on the Lord each and every day...not just until New Year's Day, but for one full year. At this time next year, I will write about how things have changed.
So here's my first boast:
I remember when I had a job doing some telemarketing for a newspaper in NSB, FL, and I HATED that job! The Lord told me to praise Him for the job instead of complaining about it all the time and He would give me the desire of my heart. I did, and He did! After a few weeks of praising Him for my job...sometimes through clenched teeth...the editor of the newspaper called me into his office. To my surprise, he asked me if I had ever thought of being a reporter. What?! Uh, yeah! Only every hour of every day! He said I was on his heart the night before and that he felt he was supposed to give me a chance to do some freelance reporting! Whoo, hoo! That was such a cool miracle, and it is just one example of how much God cares about me and my everyday life. Thank you for that reminder, Lord. God is awesome!
LOVE this blog! Can't wait to read more, what an encouragement!
